Our day in Prague.

Behold the birth of the ULTIMATE BUSKCAM, we play Good King Wenceslas in the best place on the planet.
As we play in old town we run into some trouble with the POLICE yet are supported by the PEOPLE. Birch finds his replacement in the Quarter Tones but not for another Birchy Busking Challenge!! Rob takes us round the shot locations of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE and we find out that Salzburg hates the Flash.

Eurobusk 08 Episode III of VI

Our second day in Berlin. Rob’s in a good mood, Matt wants a hotdog, Lydon looks like a pirate and Birchy leaves the stool behind. Day 2 proves to be much more successful as we find several places to busk (for the first time in Europe this year). Rob and Matt have yet more fun with petrol stations whilst Birch and Lydon suffer a mild on camera freak-out in the back of the flash.

Eurobusk 08 Episode I of VI

This is the first episode of the second Series of The Eurobusk Saga.

Watch how 4 young musicians navigate their way through Europe armed with 2 video cameras, the instruments on their back, a pad full of Christmas tunes and their trusty steed; The Flash.

This years tour route sees the young Quarter Tones Brass Quartet travel to Berlin, Prague, Slazburg, Luxembourg and London.

Episode 1 Begins with controversy in London’s Covent Garden, the Flash’s race against time to the ferry, the first of a BRAND NEW FEATURE and an interesting journey to Berlin. All in all not a great start to the trip for us but an entertaining first Episode for you.

Here is my final live post for a few days. I won’t lie to you and say I’ll be sneaking into internet cafe’s to post everyday from Europe. Who would?

Instead I’ve left you with a good week of pre made posts whilst I’m tearing up Europe with the Quarter Tones.

AND if that wasn’t enough. Despite having two long and full days of busking the streets of London we have recorded a one-off podcast all about ourselves and our up and coming adventure. Generous hey??
I hope you enjoy the podcast and have all the usual fun on the lead up to christmas.

15 gigs, a broken down car, 25 hours of driving and a very tired musician later and I’m finally in London. I’ve spent today unpacking and strolling round my new city (and drafting a letter to the other flats in my block warning them of my social practicing hours).

I’ve covered a fair few miles of walking today and have a feeling that it’ll be keeping me fit. As for tomorrow I’m going to see Jonny and work on our Duo project. I’ll be seeing Rob Turner (from the Quarter Tones) in the evening. He’ll be having the first screening of the near completed documentary. I’m sure he’ll love it. At least until I give it him on DVD and tell hime to make notes on it for me.

I’m sure that I’ll end up loving or hating London. I don’t think you can be ambivalent towards the city. Lets hope for a good time though!

8th Tone Reunion

Later this evening I’m leaving for lincoln to see Rob (and therefore half of the quarter tones).

It’s going to be my first glimpse of the footage he’s put together so far. If I’m able I might try to steal bit to put together a trailer.

Rob is currently editing a weeks worth of footage and and we are at least 56 seconds closer to the first Episode of Eurobusk being published on mattrobertsmusic.com.

In terms of locked footage we now have a total of 56 seconds. Let me assure you that it will be worth the wait and the second it’s finished it will be up!!

What is EuroBusk 07 you may ask???

Well before I left for college I played in a brass quartet with 3 other friends who I grew up with in Derby and despite taking different paths and being scattered around the country we get together to busk and gig in Derby the week before Christmas.

The busking part isn’t something that we take too seriously but we earn enough to pay our way through Christmas shopping and an ample supply of Greggs and hot chocolate.

The group is called The Quarter Tones and is made up of myself (Matt Roberts, trumpet), Rob Turner (trumpet), Chris Birch (trombone) and Chris Lydon (Tuba).

This year we have set up a tour around Europe in which we are travelling in a holiday home van aka THE FLASH (I know!! It wouldn’t be my first choice but this has the specs of a mobile palace – LCD TV, 6 birth, cooker, separate shower). It’s also a useful investment as we have a mobile base and can be flexible with our plans.

Rob and I intend to take our cameras and make a “Long way Down”/ “Top Gear” style documentary for a laugh. I’m sure the result will end up on my site at some stage.
