Quite a few people have been emailing me to ask me all about my new theme and design of my site. I’m more than happy to answer any questions and give some suggestions but I thought it might just be easier to point you to a post made at Upstart Blogger. This is a site that’s run my my good friend, fellow trumpeter and former tutor Ashley Morgan. Ash got me into blogging nearly a year ago and 279 post later I’ve got a great looking site a respectable audience size and lots of stuff still to blog about.
So if you’re interested in the birth of my sites theme and if you want to know anything and everything about blogs and blogging go to Upstart Blogger.
I hope you find this useful and interesting.

I’m playing a gig with Enormous on November 20th so I’ve been in contact with Davy Lawerence (lead singer/song writer) over the past couple of days sorting out rehearsals, dots, mp3’s etc.
I’ve been listening to some of the new tracks this morning and they’re awesome. I’m a big fan of “The Way It Should Be” and “Pretty Little Painkiller”. I’ve also got a soft spot for “Moaning Lisa” which is Davy’s one a minute wonder. Probably because it’s 25% trumpet solo :P. I’m looking forward to meeting the guys that have been on my iTunes since before my first mp3 player (who else remembers CD’s and mini-discs?).
It’ll be nice to see and play with Paul Varga (Sax) as I haven’t properly played with him since the days Soul Burners. A soul band I played with when I was 16 but they all thought I was 20. It’s a long story but it was basically so I would be taken seriously as my playing age was higher than my actual age. Plus playing soul gigs in bars and clubs till 2 am isn’t really ideal for a kid who’s working on his GCSE’s.
I’m covering the gig for Ashley Morgan (the regular Trumpet) as he can’t make it. It’s cool but it’d be nice one day to actually play with him as I’ve known him as a trumpeter for 10 years now but we’ve never played together.
So per Davy’s Email I am now an Honory Member Of Enormous. I assume that now means I will get a cut of past and future royalties. Thanks Guys!!

I’ll be reheasing with them this Saturday.

With the miles my little car is doing I can’t believe it’s still running. I seem to spend most of my life in the car at the moment. I opened the passenger door the other day to a footwell of breakfast bars, sandwich cartons, lucozade and water bottles.
I’ve got to keep up my exercise or I’ll turn into a fatty.
So after driving nearly 500 miles over over the past 5 days what would you do with your day off?? If you thought anything other than spend it in a car you’d be wrong.
Thankfully I’m not driving as my good friend Ash is helping me move my rubbish out of storage prior to my move to London in a few months. He’s a life saver as my little car would take three trips of 90 miles rather than 1 in his big car!!
Still, if he still had is TVR we could make it in half the time .
Good times!!

If you are just starting out as a blogger, not getting an audience for what you have to say or just stuck in a posting rut then this is a great site for you.
Upstartblogger.com has some great advice on how to become a successful blogger and the upstart community is so big that you’ll be able to interact with like-minded people on subjects you are all interested in.
It has recently changed hands to my good friend and fellow professional musician Ashley Morgan. So this site should be especially interesting to musicians as well as bloggers. Let me know what you think.

I love my Jerome Callet Soloist and it’s still one of the best trumpets I’ve ever played. And although I’ve been playing my Callichio more and more I can’t bare to part with my Callet.
I bought it with my old trumpet teacher and good friend Ashley Morgan, many years ago from Myatts.
It was basically brand new at a fraction of the price. For some reason the person who had owned it needed a fast sale and when I looked at it in Myatts it still had its plastic wrapping around the trumpet itself.
Worth £1400 I got it in the region of £700!! Bargain of the Millennium!!!!
It’s free blowing, has a nice tone and definitely has something great about it that it’s difficult to express unless you have played one.
The Jerome Callet Trumpets are getting more and more difficult to get hold of due to Callet’s business situation but I have heard that there are only 3 Jerome Callet Soloists in the UK in working and playing condition. I know that I have one and so does Neil Yates.
If you have one or know of someone who has one please let me know.
(I’ll post a less Trumpet and Rant Based Post for tomorrow)
