Studio

I’ve spent a lot of time in recording studios. From my first Album, to my first project session, to my first visit to Abbey Road, London.

My First Album

This was created when I was 17. My Jazz Quartet spent a day with an engineer who spent the evening before our session recording Wynton Marsallis. The album was very basic and we just covered a few simple tunes from our set. It was a fun day and our first experience with a mobile recording studio. The studio looked like a cross between Night Rider and an FBI van.

These pictures are a little decrepit but it’s good to see how things have changed since the old school days.

My First Project Session

I hired a studio for the day in order to record a wide range of music to be used in another project that I am working on. I’m currently in the process of mixing the tracks down.

My First Visit To Abbey Road

Why have got a big smile on my face. Well who wouldn’t playing at Abbey Road?? Especially when playing the piano that the Beatles recorded Lady Madonnna on. It was awesome!

I was part of a scratch band recording some rock stuff. (I’m still waiting for the final mix -I think it’s sitting in the bottom of a cupboard somewhere as I’ve waited 3 years for it.) Recording where incredible bands like the Beatles played was incredible. After I’d finished my part of the the session I snuck to the next studio with my pal Rick to where Star Wars, Indiana Jones and countless other film scores where recorded. Again, Incredible.

I enjoy recording and hope to add to this page soon. I’ll try to get hold of photos from the last Big Band recording I did.
