Our day in Prague.

Behold the birth of the ULTIMATE BUSKCAM, we play Good King Wenceslas in the best place on the planet.
As we play in old town we run into some trouble with the POLICE yet are supported by the PEOPLE. Birch finds his replacement in the Quarter Tones but not for another Birchy Busking Challenge!! Rob takes us round the shot locations of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE and we find out that Salzburg hates the Flash.

Eurobusk 08 Episode III of VI

Our second day in Berlin. Rob’s in a good mood, Matt wants a hotdog, Lydon looks like a pirate and Birchy leaves the stool behind. Day 2 proves to be much more successful as we find several places to busk (for the first time in Europe this year). Rob and Matt have yet more fun with petrol stations whilst Birch and Lydon suffer a mild on camera freak-out in the back of the flash.

Eurobusk 08 Episode I of VI

This is the first episode of the second Series of The Eurobusk Saga.

Watch how 4 young musicians navigate their way through Europe armed with 2 video cameras, the instruments on their back, a pad full of Christmas tunes and their trusty steed; The Flash.

This years tour route sees the young Quarter Tones Brass Quartet travel to Berlin, Prague, Slazburg, Luxembourg and London.

Episode 1 Begins with controversy in London’s Covent Garden, the Flash’s race against time to the ferry, the first of a BRAND NEW FEATURE and an interesting journey to Berlin. All in all not a great start to the trip for us but an entertaining first Episode for you.

An Old Big Band Video

Sorry for the large break between posts. I was playing in South Pacific last week and I ended up having no time to write. I did however find an old video whilst I was digging through unnamed CD’s and DVDs in my old bedroom in Derby and thought I’d put it up.

It’s a video taken in my second year at the Conservatoire (when I was 19). I was playing lead with the BMus Big Band at the time under Eddies Severn. This was the Big Band run for the regular course rather than the jazz specialists. After this I was asked to sit on the lead chair in the Jazz Course Big Bands for a few gigs.

It was interesting to look back at my technique a few years ago. The things that I’m proud of and things that I’m not For example, I think I have a good stance and sound but an inability to do a proper lip trill.

With a heavy pivot and far too much movement this show poor technique and doesn’t yields poor results at the expense of stamina (and risk of injury). [Check out 2:42]

I’m happy to say this is no longer an issue!!

It’s a bit different from a regular post so I hope it makes up for being away for so long. You can even spot Neil from The Shades (and the Abu Dhabi Diary) leading the saxes. Good times

Eurobusk 07; Episode V – The Finale

Here we are. This is it!! The final Episode in the first season of Eurobusk.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed the series. It took an extemely long time to make so you better have enjoyed it!!

The most exciting thing is how much we’ve taken away from the experience and what we want to improve on or add in Eurobusk 08. I know that on the editing side I want to find a way to create a better quality videos so it won’t suffer on bigger screens and as for this years trip we’ve already come up with a lot of great ideas which are bound to be a good laugh.

As a thank you to everyone who has watched Eurobusk 07 I’d ask that you watch it right to the bitter end. It’s definatley wirth it. So without further rambling… I give you…

Eurobusk 07; Episode IV Hazzar!!

It’s finally here. After hours of technical issues here is the 4th installment in the Eurobusk 07 Series. We rejoin the tour on our journey to Paris. Rob driving, myself as wingman and the the Chris’ (both Birch and Lydon) are on the resting shift in the back. See how we approach Paris, our run ins with the police, a tounge tied Rob, our magical evening under Eiffel tower and the Flash’s “little accident”.

I’ll be working on quality for next season but it’s still nice to have the option
