Just as I was down at having my first weekend off gigging in 3 months a late one comes in for me today. Well I say today - I’m writing this post yesterday as Today I’ll be on a gig. Make sense??
Another long drive from London to Birmingham I think I’m pretty used to it now. It’s not too bad when you leave at 5AM. Although the roads aren’t as clear as you’d expect.

My original idea for a podcast was to have a team of musicians recording the show. However since it has been developing I’ve decided to host the podcast with a single cohost and involve my other musician friends (most who are darted around other areas of the country) as guests. That way I should be able to keep regular podcast publications ponce they have started. The test record went really well and now I’m developing some ideas to make the final product as sleek and entertaining as possible.
The test was pretty funny so it’s set to be a laugh!
Stay Tuned!!

I set up my Virb Page last year and now I’ve had over 1000 hits on it. Ace!
For those who don’t know, virb is like facebook/my space etc but done properly and it’s mostly populated by musicians and artists. It used to be invite only and now it’s open to everyone so I hear. It’s worth taking a look. Plus you can add to my hits by following the link :P.

Damn it!!
I’m having 100’s of spam comments a week and it’s driving me mad. I used to love the comment bars notification of new comments but now a dread it.
What’s more annoying is I can picture some geeky sweaty little nerd designing these spamming programs for car insurance, pharmacy products and legal advice. To you I say:
Open the curtains, put on a fresh anorak get outside and meet some girls you spotty little … annoying person. (It’s tricky not to Swear).

Up at 5am, back at 11pm. 260 miles, 5+ hours of driving. What a day. But on th plus side, my Trumpet Army are sounding great!!!
I’m exhausted.

I think my block flats have had peace for long enough.
I’m going to start my practice today and perhaps make a start on the recordings I’m doing. I’m also sorting out a parking permit as I’ll be leaving London at about 5 AM tomorrow and I don’t fancy having to walk 20 mins to my car first (especially in London at that time in the morning)

It’s getting quite crazy when I look at the amount of time I’ve spent editing this documentary. I will say that it’ll be worth it. Like with everything I do I want to do it well and it’d really irritate me to release something to my site that wasn’t 100% perfect (this attitude does not transfer to my spelling and grammer - I often let rip on a post and forget to look up :P).
But don’t worry. It won’t be long now. We’re currently planning out Eurobusk 08 so I’ll have to release 07 soon :).

Well it was inevitable that my little fiesta would burn out eventually. Concidering all the miles I do in the poor thing. I bet some of you would say "it wa bound to happen sooner or later" - Well you’d be wrong. My little car is fine and although it makes me a little sad to sell it I’ve ended up buying my grandads Corsa of him.
Not exactly a trade up to the Audi I wanted but from a car that’s done 73,000 to a newer car that’s done 30,000 just makes sense. I’ve never driven a Vauxhall before and I’m not an expert on cars . I’m hoping that it’ll be as reliable as the golf and fiesta that have proceeded it.
I have 12 gigs in 9 days from this Saturday so it’ll get the Matt Roberts Baptism of fire.

I try not to moan on my blog but is anyone else sick of The X-factor.
I know I enjoyed it for the first time last year, but that was all because I trained at the conservatoire with Rhyd and it was really interesting to see how the TV portrayed someone I knew.
I do admit I like to laugh at the self deluded people who go on the show (it’s kind of Morbid Comedy). So here’s the run down of some of the things that wind me up with this show (in no particular order):
The long pauses before …. ….. . . . .. .. … decision
The false footing answers - "I think … you …. SHOULD … not … NOT .. .. go home … and pack your bags… to come back…. because I’m afraid ….you… have MADE it Through!!!! (screams - contestant puts hand to face to stop their nose from falling off).
The harrowing back story - "Sophie is poor. She was hit by a tricyle and lost the use of her face and now she’s come to sing to us today on the anniversary of her great great great grandmothers dogs death".
The use of pop to highlight decision (You’re through - Westlife plays). If you have any sort of musical brain you can see if it’s climaxing to major or minor and guess what each one means.
The guys who say "I AM MUSIC", "I LIVE MUSIC" "IT’S MY LIFE" "IT’S MY DESTINY" - Now I’ve spent thousands of hours practicing my craft and make a living from music. But I wouldn’t have the front to say any of those things (but then again I live in the Real World).
Do these people live in a special bubble? I mean back in the day Rhyd always said that he wanted to be in a Westend style job and used this show to get to his spot on Broadway in Phantom 2 (or so I hear from mates who are still in touch).
I could go on … but …. I ….. will … not… make you wait for my answer. So… I… won’t go on. (That terrible Leona Lewis song plays up to the climax)

I finally arrived home just after lunch time where I simply threw my wet clothes on the floor put my trumpet on my desk and passed out onto my bed. I woke up about 5pm realizing I should probably eat as I hadn’t done since the spot of curry I had with Street Level and Bleed The Skyline the night before.
After making the most half-arsed sandwich you’ve ever seen I sorted out my stuff for my gig the morning after. An Indian wedding going from Oxford to London.
Another early start I left at 5am (again) and drove up to Oxford. The gig was pretty standard and finished in a Marriot Hotel next to Heathrow Airport. In total I was driving for about 7 hours and got back to Derby in the mid afternoon where collapsed onto my bed again and looked forward to the gig in Liverpool the following morning.
… continued tomorrow.
