As you know my blog is a little over a year old and since it’s birth it hasn’t stopped evolving. When I started off it was just a bit of a laugh and something to make my online CV a little more interesting. Since then I’ve added, music, photos, my first animation, a documentary series and after christmas I’ll be releasing a podcast.

This is on top of my regular blog about being a young pro trumpeter!

You will also have noticed that within the past couple of months my site has had a complete face lift and the addition of adverts. My site has never looked better and there will be some more design changes in the future in order to make it even cleaner for my audience and for Mr Google.

Don’t worry though. I’M not going to change. You’ll still be able to read about life as a young musician and my other random fun content.

However since I’ve been taking my blog more and more seriously I’ve learnt how the blogosphere works and how I can go about increasing my traffic. This lead me to something very interesting.

As you may know one of my best pals, fellow pro trumpet player, former trumpet tutor and blog-guru, Ashley Morgan owns and writes for Upstartblogger. Ashley has taught me for half of my life, whether it’s been on the trumpet (back when I was at school) or as a young pro looking to market himself and his site. That’s why he has my complete confidence.

Because of this I’m going to take the next step in blogging and have decided to join The Inner Circle. This is a big decision for me as it’s a fair amount of money especially being at the start of my career and having just moved to London. However this is an investment that I know will come back to me. Even though it’s a little scary. But hell! The most rewarding things in my life have always been the most scary!!

I’d love to know if anyone else was considering joining as well.

You’ll be happy to know that I have finished putting the final touches on Eurobusk 07 Episodes 4 and 5!! The penultimate episode will be up on Sunday!!

(If you haven’t gotten the pattern by now they are being released on every Sunday)

All the final touches have been made on Eurobusk 08 and I’ll be writing about that very soon. I have 3 gigs to play over this weekend so I’ll have lots to write about. Actually one of them is with The Shades as a warm up gig for Abu Dhabi on new years at the Emirates Palace Hotel. Hopefully the set on Saturday won’t be as long as the one scheduled for new years.

I’ve had to put Master Musician Episode 2 on hold until next year as Eurobusk 07 took far longer to finish than I’d expected and I don’t want to rush it. Podcasts are also scheduled for next year now to. But I might get the chance to do a Eurobusk 08 special before we leave.

I’ll keep you posted on that when I’ve spoken to the rest of The Quarter Tones.

As a few people had guessed he was hiding on Dizzy’s trumpet. If you are new to Matt Roberts Music you might have no idea why there is a monkey hiding on or around trumpet legends and to be honest nor do I. The Sidekick Monkey first appeared in The Master Musician Animation and since then his popularity has simply soared.

To all his fans out there he’ll be returning in Episode 2 – Christmas 08.

The Long Awaited Eurobusk 07 Series

We record the final pick up shots today. Rob and I will be recording voice overs next week and that’s it. I hope that you’ll enjoy it and see why you had to wait so long. It’s been a pain staking process going over the documentary and making it perfect.

The MR Music Podcast

My brand new podcast and brand new site. Featuring multiple professional musician bloggers and a fun and interesting look into the lives we lead and the rubbish we talk about. I’m recording the second session today. All that’s left to do before I publish the first podcast is to finish the jingles – I know – jingles. Crazy!

And in the slightly longer term (and hopefully before christmas) I’m hoping to shoot another Master Musician

I have a little bit of tweaking here and there to smooth out images etc for the new theme but I think things are looking better than ever.

That’s actually been edited down into episodes now. It’s needs a little bit of refining and once my studio is up and running in London I’ll be able to get the voiceovers and reflection shots dropped in to finish it off. We’re looking around October time for the release of Episode 1. I’ll post the official date when things have settled down.

- Master Musician.

I think he’ll most likely have his next episode filmed on the move to London at the end of this Month so it will probably be out a little before the Eurobusk 07 documentary.

It’s not an album this time, I need to find the artist  - any help to find him would be great. Alicia’s was great at this last time but I think he’s found a slightly trickier hiding spot.

Thanks to Alicia who found him within the fits couple of hours that he was missing. I found him there on friday but thought I should let him stay there and think about what he had done!!

I’m hoping he’s learnt his lesson now although he wasn’t to pleased with Alicia who mocked his poor hiding skills.

I’m sure the next one will be harder now!!! Thanks

On Miles Davis’ Kind Of Blue Album – That monkey gets around

The Master Musician film is getting quite a bit of attention at the moment but unfortunately I think it’s gone to the head of one of the cast members. The Sidekick Monkey has done a runner!!?

I think this new found fame has made him a little nervous but I still need to find him to make Episode 2. I have an idea where he might as someone sent me this picture:

I’m now getting back on the case of the Eurobusk Documentary as will Rob when he gets his computer back : ). I’m determined to get all parts of the documentary out before the Eurobusk 08 trip is launched this christmas.
