Samsung - You’ve done it Again

by Matt on July 25, 2008

With the exception of our instruments there’s no finer friend to modern day musicians than our mobile phones.

With technological advancements the way they are it’s getting increasingly difficult to get a phone that makes and receives calls and text messages. A few years ago I got the Motorola V3x  - a brilliant piece of technology. It took great pictures and videos, had an mp3 player, voice recorder the works. The problem was the software did nothing but crash and stopped you from calling or texting and therefore became as useful as a phone as rock.

Not unlike my good friend who bought a TVR Tuscan - an awesome beast which sounded like the world was ending when it pulled onto your drive. But when left in the rained the cool looking holes on the hood would let in water and soak the driver coils; preventing the car from starting and therefore result in it becoming the worlds most expensive paper weight.

You buy a car to be a car and a phone to be a phone so after being stuck on the Motorola nightmare for a year I decided never to leave good old reliable Nokia and Samsung models. The Samsung I had last year was brilliant. I never had a single problem with it - plus it looked great!!

This year I’m happy to say that Samsung have done it again!!!!

This is the Samsung SGH-F480. A touch screen masterpiece. I was wary of a phone that lacked a number pad as it would lack both the physical sensation of using the phone and if anything where to go wrong there is no way to interface with the phone. However it seems as reliable as any other Samsung. The interface is simple to use and the phone gives a tiny pulse when you touch the touch-screen keys giving you the physical sensation that it is otherwise lacking.

Additional Features of Note Include a crystal clear MP3 player and radio a 5mpg camera (taking stills and video) as well as the usual Bluetooth, calculator etc applications.

The real winner when it comes to this phone is the internet facility. It’s the best I’ve every seen on a mobile device (withe the exception of the iPhone which is still only available on 02). This now allows me to check my emails and blog on the move.

Not bad for a little phone hey?
