Big Swing – Student Ball

The gig on Friday Night was pretty standard. Although the singers were so into it we lost 20% of the set to audience chat. It was a slow start but they mobbed the dance floor for the last number so I think they appreciated it.

The venue was in a marquee -  I say marquee, but this monster had a full bar, casino, toilets (proper ones with tiled floors as appose to holes in the ground), stage, lighting rig and double glazing doors. It was therefore the king of marquees. : )

Personally I think that’s a fair bit of bargaining. : )

casino? there was a casino??? you fail to mention Graham’s desire to spontaneously half the length of Lady is a Tramp

The Casino was in the room with the bar. You missed out :)

And of course, one of the singers skipped out every other verse of Lady is a Tramp leaving the band jumping 4/5 lines of music at a time.

    Thanks Alicia!!

Indeed and I very much liked your comment after, I quote, “It’s lucky we’ve all been playing it for years and knew where we were.” yeah…

Also, Shaun forgot the words in Straighten Up. I was fortunate to witness that fantastic moment after the instrumental where he said “Oh I’ve forgotten the words again”
