Is Television becoming an Obsolete Format?

This post is inspired by the sheer boredom that TV has generated for me recently. The formatting of programs is getting tired and boring, no longer capturing the audience it used to.

I have mixed feelings about this as I think it’s all too easy in life to spend it in front of the TV. And quite frankly, what a way to waste your life!?!But when I do watch TV and just want to chill out I like to see something of quality.

The 2 types of programming that are the most frustrating:

Quiz Shows That Aren’t

Golden Balls and Deal or No Deal - These are shows based on nothing. It’s all down to luck and although they started as novel ideas how have they been going for so long?? -

Talentless people being exploited and rocketed to usually ill deserved stardom

- Big Brother (Big Brother USA, Big Brother Germany, Big Brother Iraq etc)
- Britain’s Got Talent (a truly ironic title +USA Version)
- X-Factor (+ USA Version)
- Beauty and the Geek
- Vanity Lair

These are basically modern day social freak shows which let viewers laugh at self deluded idiots. By throwing in some normal people or occasional talent into the mix it manages to keep attention.

How long will the same shows keep going??
