My Father the Philosopher

Posted by Matt on April 16, 2008 | Comments (0) | Trackbacks (0)

Just before a gig the other day my car wipers blew a fuse in the car. I didn’t have any spare and it was snowing so my Dad advised I take the fuse from the rear windscreen heater and use it for the wipers.
When I Said that then I couldn’t see out my rear screen [...]

The Most Talentless Causing The Most Aggrovation

Posted by Matt on April 14, 2008 | Comments (1) | Trackbacks (0)

This is a trait I’ve found in most of the bands I’ve been in, as have my friends.
Whenever there’s someone who loves to argue and moan about everything it’s always the most talentless person there. They some how make everyones life much harder and some times because they shout so much get hold of a [...]

8th Tone Reunion

Posted by Matt on April 10, 2008 | Comments (0) | Trackbacks (0)

Later this evening I’m leaving for lincoln to see Rob (and therefore half of the quarter tones).
It’s going to be my first glimpse of the footage he’s put together so far. If I’m able I might try to stealĀ  bit to put together a trailer.

(This weeks Trumpet Kit post is a little different.)

It’s just another one of those things that every trumpet and brass player has to deal with. Especially in the winter lips can get dry, chapped cracked and sore. Playing on this is painful and often effects the quality of playing and stamina.

The usual solution to this [...]

I’ve been on the case of making a small change to the site but it’s taken longer than I thought to finalize.

Is Television becoming an Obsolete Format?

Posted by Matt on April 7, 2008 | Comments (1) | Trackbacks (0)

This post is inspired by the sheer boredom that TV has generated for me recently. The formatting of programs is getting tired and boring, no longer capturing the audience it used to.
>Please forgive the following rant<
I have mixed feelings about this as I think it’s all too easy in life to spend it in front [...]

Danny Elfman - What a guy!!!

Posted by Matt on April 6, 2008 | Comments (0) | Trackbacks (0)

I did my final dissertation at the Conservatoire on Danny Elfman and his film scores.
For those who don’t know, he’s done the music for the big hitters like The Simpsons and Desperate House Wives but really I love his film music. Batman, Spiderman, the Frightners, Nightmare before Christmas, Beetle Juice and so many more. He’s [...]
