I don’t know if I’m the only musician who suffers from this (please leave comments and let me know) but when I’m reading music and someone throws in one of these double monsters my brain slows like a PC trying to open 2 applications at once… well … an application.
What is their use apart from being a complete pain?
They’re not used enough to make them well practiced but you can guarantee they’ll make a difficult phrase that little bit harder.
I know harmonically and theoretically speaking that it’s correct to use them rather than equivalent naturals but I think this separates the composers and arrangers who play an instrument from those who’ve spent too much time in a darkened room eating cheese toasties in front of Sibelius.
So if anyone from the Musicians Union is reading perhaps you could start thinking about a nationwide strike over this???
Maybe not….
Regardless, the new generation of musicians do have the power!!!
Stop Double Accidentals, it wastes ink and musicians hate them - and we don’t look too kindly on Fb’s, Cb’s, E#’s and B#’s - but lets leave them for now.

i had to play an Fb in a solo in a show last week. i was not impressed at all. seeing as the thing was in Ab major and hard enough WITHOUT all the stupid accidentals. not as bad as the next piece which was in F# maj. fun times
